I'm back with 3 Seeded Bread Rolls

I just came
out of a crazy 3 week project that was made up of 14-16 hour days.
I am not as young as I used to be - what a shocker. So explains the
lack of blogging and the effort to press the button on my camera
that takes the photo the past weeks. So it's like this, work work
work 6 days of 14 hours - rest Sunday. And all I can think of -
besides sleeping is baking bread! It's like I needed to do
something else and I needed
to bake
bread. Specifically healthy 3 Seeded bread rolls. All of my
favourite seeds: Flax, Sunflower
and Poppy. This is so healthy and good for you because of the rich
amounts of Omega 3 oils from the Flax, the vitamins and minerals
from the Wheat germ, and it's so flavourful! This week's version is
a slight variation because I ran out of whole wheat flour - and of
course you make a white bread version.
I just found out from Wikipedia
why Poppy
seeds can't be found here in Singapore. Although it's
really
very
harmless, the
drug opium
is produced
by "milking" latex from the unripe fruits ("seed pods") rather than
from the seeds, all parts of the plant can contain or carry the
opium alkaloids, especially morphine
and
codeine.
This means that eating foods (e.g., muffins) that contain poppy
seeds can result in a false positive for opiates in a drug test.
And so the sale of poppy seeds from Papaver
somniferum is banned in
here due to the morphine content. And if you've had poppy seeds you
know you don't feel like you can fall asleep forever and
ever.
I've also since discovered the wonderful joy of adding Milk powder
instead of Milk to breads - they are much better conditioners! This
recipe was one that I found on Allrecipes.com but have
since made some variations to it.
I wonder if I
will get arrested for eating poppy seeds bread rolls...?
Round Up Muffins - Green Tea and Red Beans

What a week!
This week started with a job that will see me through to 3 weeks of
intensive late late nights - I just completed week 1 and have 2
more to go. Most of the entries for Muffin Monday flooded in at the
same time. I have a mail notifier that goes *Bing!*
whenever I get new mail so while I'm working, I'm also sometimes
hearing *Bing!
Bing!
Bing!*
in the background and it made me glad to know that I now have a
well balanced life and people want to take part in my event!
Woo!
Green Tea muffins has been sitting in my head for a long time now
and I've finally made it to commemorate the round up of a very
successful first Muffin Monday! Also I've been wondering what to
make for Zorra's St
Pat's Day: Green or Irish, and was
curious how green these muffins would turn out. They obviously
became a little brown...
Muffin Monday Round-Up!
Early round up! (Couldn't wait to blog about this!)
43 46 muffin
recipes from 4538>/s> 41 bakers
around the world! Huge thanks to everyone who participated in
Muffin Monday! For those who don't already know, the round up can
be found here.40
The response of the first ever Muffin Monday was fabulous and I am
overwhelmed by everyone's enthusiastic participation. I was
initially uncertain if anyone would be interested and was really
hoping to have at least 5 people participating. It became really
exciting when more and more people filled in my inbox with their
great recipes.
How Muffin Monday came about and became a food blog event?
Muffin Monday was something I created at work some months
ago - every Monday I would bring in muffins I've baked to treat my
colleagues (who I've since spoiled). And quite honestly, I was
running out of ideas. At the same time I was having quite a lot of
fun participating in other food blog events that other food
bloggers have hosted. So I thought - why not make Muffin Monday a
food blog event and have other food bloggers make their colleagues
and friends very happy people on a Monday morning! Share the love!
And then I'll have so many recipes to choose from every week for
weeks to come!
It was fantastic to see how everyone got creative in the kitchen,
transforming a simple basic recipe into something scrumptious and
delightful! Bananas, coconut, chocolate and pineapple were the more
popular ingredients used (you really can't go wrong with them).
While there are some a little more adventurous bakers who went with
more unusual ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes, mars bars and
zucchini.
I've had a blast hosting this event, it brought me to wonderful
food blogs I've never known and it was fun reading everyone's
entries - also it was great knowing people had fun baking their
muffins! I'm so glad how well it all turned out because I now have
so many more food blogging friends from around the world!
So what's next?! When is MM02 going to happen? Who wants to host
the next Muffin Monday MM02? How does this work? I don't know!
Leave your comments and I guess we'll find out!
