<p>The Emerging Science Journals program has already won support in the research community. Many distinguished scientists have become members of the editorial boards of the journals &#8211; among them Sir Harold Kroto, Professor at Florida State University, 1996 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry; most recent Medicine or Physiology Nobel Prize Winner &#8211; Prof. Jules A. <p>In 1960, when Bell Laboratories patented the laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), they really had no idea exactly what its possibilities might be. With the advent of solid state electronics it has come into its own. It is used in industry for cutting and welding, in entertainment in CD &amp; DVD players and video devices, in office applications like laser printers, and since the early 1990&#8242;s it has had burgeoning uses in medical applications. One of the primary medical uses is in the practice of aesthetic medicine, where the object is beautifying and improving the appearance of skin. Whether it is from aging, tattoos, birthmarks, or degeneration of the collagen protein which underlies the lesions under the surface.</p>
<p>It has replaced such procedures as dermabrasion for acne scarring so that recuperation is a fraction of what it had been. </p>
<p>It has replaced the absolute need for many surgical procedures such as facelifts and vein-stripping of varicose veins. It has become clear that one laser cannot be used for all medical purposes. What it does and how it affects the skin is determined by miniscule changes in light bandwidth, light photon power delivered by the device, and the length of the skin exposure to the light and most importantly is the cooling and removal of the unwanted heat from the site where the laser is administered.</p>
<p>If one looks at the entire spectrum of light, it is evident that the human eye only &#8220;sees&#8221; a fraction of the light which is present. In other words human vision can see light waves in the range of 400 to 1000 nanometers. This includes a portion of UV light and almost to the infrared area. Light is in discrete packets of energy called photons. Photons are released by electrons when they go from a higher energy state to a lower one. The way laser works is that it releases photons from an energized tube that are traveling parallel to another and at an equal energy composition. Some of the first medical work done was with a carbon dioxide laser. The light released was of a wide width, about 10,000 nanometers. It targeted water in the human skin, and was useful in cutting tissue, and at lower energy levels it could be used for laser resurfacing, though the skin surface would get very hot and recovery time was prolonged.</p>
<p>There are now a number of different lasers which release specific wavelengths of light. One of the first used was the Argon laser, who use is primarily limited these days to specialized eye and ear applications. Probably one of the well-accepted lasers these days is the YAG laser (Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet). It is combined with Erbium, Neodymium and other elements to produce light at specific wavelengths which may target water, hemoglobin, melanin, or tattoo pigments in the skin. A laser&#8217;s propensity to target melanin makes it useful to target melanin in the root of a hair, and thus act as a hair-removal device. By targeting hemoglobin, it can explode tiny blood vessels which cause rosacea on the face. Other uses are based on specific pulse widths, amount and time of energy delivered, and known biological effects of each one.</p>
<p>There is another form of light therapy which is normally delivered either by the device itself or by way of the armature of a laser (through a boxed lens device) called BBL (broad-based light); it is often known as IPL with frequently replaced light bulb (intensive pulsed light).  If you have an IPL done check the usage of the bulb with the practitioner. A bulb costs about ,000 and is effective for 10,000 flashes after which the results fade very quickly.  If they only charge .00 per flash you do the arithmetic.  This light therapy includes several wavelengths of light simultaneously such as light including everything from 480 to 1064 nanometers.  Certain filters can be put in the box to shield out certain wavelengths for specific purposes.</p>
<p>Lasers create a lot of heat in the skin by virtue of what they do. There are several techniques for making the procedure more comfortable. Many times an oral anti-anxiety medicine like diazepam is given prior to the procedure to alleviate fear and apprehension. The gel which is applied to the face as the procedure progresses may be refrigerated to decrease the heat. Most of the time a topical anesthetic containing one or more of the &#8220;-caine&#8221; drugs like xylocaine or mepivocaine is applied prior is applied prior to the procedure to numb the skin. Once the procedure is started there are ways to continuously cool the skin. One way is to blow cold air over the work field from a special cooler. Another way is an expensive sapphire glass which has coolant run directly through it at the site of the laser&#8217;s penetration. The discomfort usually abates a few minutes after the procedure is completed.</p>
<p>The laser techniques, in the hands of an experienced operator, are an excellent way to rid the skin of wrinkles, blemishes, acne scars, and the general effects of aging. The limited IPL&#8217;s that a lot of the spas are using simply cannot do the job in all cases. A patient, who is interested in a specific laser improvement to the face or other part of the body, should consult an experienced physician before embarking on any type of laser therapy.</p>

Instead, they are used for a handful of train tickets and election ballots.  Although some may find it surprising, a computer printout is another type of hard copy medium.  Pictures, barcodes, and term papers are modern examples of data storage that can later be retrieved using optical technology.  Although it consumes physical space and requires proper care, non-acidic paper printouts can hold information for centuries.  If long-term storage is not of prime concern, magnetic medium can retain tremendous amounts of data and consume less space than a single piece of paper.   The magnetic technology used for computer data storage is the same technology used in the various forms of magnetic tape from audiocassette to videocassette recorders.  One of the first computer storage devices was the magnetic tape drive. Magnetic tape is a sequential data storage medium. To read data, a tape drive must wind through the spool of tape to the exact location of the desired information. To write, the tape drive encodes data sequentially on the tape. Because tape drives cannot randomly access or write data like disk drives, and are thus much slower, they have been replaced as the primary storage device with the hard drive.  The hard drive is composed of thin layers of rigid magnetic platters stacked on top of one another like records in a jukebox, and the heads that read and write data to the spinning platters resemble the arm of a record player.  Floppy disks are another common magnetic storage medium.  They offer relatively small storage capacity when compared to hard drives, but unlike hard drives, are portable.  Floppy disks are constructed of a flexible disk covered by a thin layer of iron oxide that stores data in the form of magnetic dots. A plastic casing protects the disk: soft for the 51/4-inch disk, and hard for the 31/2-inch disk.  Magnetic storage medium, for all its advantages, only has a life expectancy of twenty years.   Data can be stored on electronic medium, such as memory chips.  Every modern personal computer utilizes electronic circuits to hold data and instructions.  These devices are categorized as RAM (random access memory) or ROM (read-only memory), and are compact, reliable, and efficient.  RAM is volatile, and is primarily used for the temporary storage of programs that are running.  ROM is non-volatile, and usually holds the basic instruction sets a computer needs to operate.  Electronic medium is susceptible to static electricity damage and has a limited life expectancy, but in the modern personal computer, electronic hardware usually becomes obsolete before it fails.  Optical storage medium, on the other hand, will last indefinitely.   Optical storage is an increasingly popular method of storing data.  Optical disk drives use lasers to read and write to their medium. When writing to an optical disk, a laser creates pits on its surface to represent data. Areas not burned into pits by the laser are called lands. The laser reads back the data on the optical disk by scanning for pits and lands. There are three primary optical disk mediums available for storage: CD-ROM (compact disc read-only memory), WORM (write once read many), and rewritable optical disks. The CD-ROM is, by far, the most popular form of optical disk storage; however, CD-ROMs are read-only. At the factory, lasers are used to create a master CD-ROM, and a mold is made from the master and used to create copies. WORM drives are used almost exclusively for archival storage where it is important that the data cannot be changed or erased after it is written, for example, financial record storage.Rewritable optical disks are typically used for data backup and archiving massive amounts of data, such as image databases.   Although there are many manufacturers of the data storage devices used in the modern personal computer, each fits into one of four technological classes according to the material and methods it uses to record information.  Hardcopy medium existed before the invention of the computer, and magnetic medium is predominantly used today.  Electronic medium is used by every computer system, and is used to store instructions or temporarily hold data.  Finally, optical storage medium utilizes lasers to read and write information to a disk that lasts indefinitely.  Each type of medium is suitable for certain functions that computer users require. Although they use differing technologies, they all have equal importance in the modern personal computer system. </p>

But if you place the same plant and place it near your window where it can get proper sunlight and you water your plant regularly the plant doesnt dies any more. You can test this experiment by putting a camera on to see the plant growing every day. Another great experiment to teach your kid is water recycling you can take a vessel put some water in it and turn on the gas. After some time when the water start boiling you will see that the water is evaporating, the quantity of water is getting lesser. To check that the water is evaporating you need to put a cover on the vessel and after some time when you remove the cover from the vessel, you will see the water on the surface of the cover. this experiment shows how water from rivers and sea get evaporated due to heat from sunlight and perform cloud that rain afterwards.<br />
